Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a well-renowned addition to the Grand Theft Auto franchise and is beloved by many in the gaming community. However, many classic and well received games have started to age rather poorly, Vice City included. Though, due to the recent efforts of a dedicated fan, Vice City is looking a lot prettier.

Of the numerous Grand Theft Auto games, Vice City helped to bring GTA into the bright, colorful aesthetic that would later inspire the visual presentation of the critically acclaimed fifth GTA installmentVice City holds a special and nostalgic place in the hearts and minds of many gaming enthusiasts.

That being said, Vice City was first released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in October of 2002 and the graphics have aged quite poorly to say the least. Compared to Grand Theft Auto 5, in terms of graphics Vice City has been obliterated by the passage of time. Despite this, Vice City is currently available to play on Steam and thankfully the modding community is rather gifted.

A talented member of the modding community by the name of msborges has released an overhauled texture pack that gives Vice City a fresh coat of paint, as it were. Sure, it's not impressive as some of the things that GTA 5 modders have been doing, but this texture pack does make Vice City a lot easier on the eyes. These updated textures offer the same visual aesthetic of Vice City without losing any of the charm this game had to offer when it originally released.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City's presence on the PC, like other games, allows talented individuals like msborges and so many others to outfit the classic game with more advanced graphics or in turn, take a modern game and re-envision it in an older graphic style.

Admittedly, many are likely irritated that Rockstar Games hasn't taken the initiative to go back and remaster all the classic GTA games. Mods are always welcome, but what would Vice City look like if it was given the Grand Theft Auto 5 treatment? While this texture pack will be sure to make numerous fans happy, it's amazing how far technology and Rockstar Games has come since the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is available now for PC, PS2, Xbox, and mobile devices.
